Launching Group Therapy: The Social Board

Are you looking for a way to build your communication skills that doesn’t feel like "work"? We are thrilled to invite you to The Social Board, our newest group therapy program for Speech Pathology clients, hosted at our warm and welcoming Newcastle Therapy Office.

This isn’t just about rolling dice; it’s about fostering independence and achieving your personal speech and communication goals in a casual, friendly space. Using a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach, we focus on supporting you to maximise your functioning through the joy of tabletop gaming.

Why “The Social Board”?

Games provide a natural, low-pressure environment to practice real-world skills. Whether we are navigating a complex strategy game or a quick-fire card game, our weekly activities are designed to build:

  • Problem Solving: Planning moves and making predictions.

  • Self-Advocacy: Expressing your support needs and communication preferences.

  • Leadership: Taking turns explaining rules and guiding the group.

  • Social Connection: Engaging in reciprocal conversation and shared decision-making.

Each week features a specific focus. We begin by building rapport and reading instructions together. By Week 4, we’re explaining the logic behind our moves, and by Week 9, members have the opportunity to share a favorite game from home.

The Details

Our next 10-week block runs from 2 June to 6 August 2026, with two weekly sessions available:
