Block Therapy
What is ‘Block Therapy?’
Block therapy means we schedule your therapy sessions in concentrated bursts. Think of it like this:
🗓 Grouped Appointments: We might have 4-8 weekly or fortnightly sessions together, then take a little break. This gives you time to practice what you've learned and helps prevent feeling burnt out.
🔄 Alternating Therapists: If you're seeing different therapists, like for occupational therapy and speech pathology, we can schedule their sessions to alternate. This helps us focus on specific areas during each visit.
Why do we recommend Block Therapy?
🧠 Improved Retention: Having more frequent sessions over a shorter period really helps you remember everything you're learning. We've found that monthly sessions can be less effective for new skill development because there's a longer gap between visits.
🎯 Targeted Skill Development: By alternating between clinicians, we can really home in on developing specific skills, giving each area the attention it needs.
🗓️ Simplified Scheduling: We know life gets busy! Block therapy can make managing appointments a lot easier, especially if you have a packed schedule with work, school, or other medical commitments.
🚀 Promotes Independence: Those breaks between blocks are fantastic! They give you a chance to practice your new skills on your own, helping you feel more confident and self-reliant.
😊 Maintains Motivation: Instead of ongoing, lengthy therapy, taking breaks can prevent fatigue. You'll come back feeling refreshed and with renewed motivation, ready to discover what works best for you!
Block therapy is a wonderful way to target specific areas and pick up new skills effectively. 🌟
